GETTING DRESSED UP AS A NEW MOM
While it's easy to live in yoga pants, it's important to take time to dress up and feel good about yourself from time to time.
Set aside some time on the weekends or during the week to put on a nice outfit, do your hair, and maybe even some makeup. This can be a great opportunity to take pictures and selfies with your little one, or get out and enjoy a leisurely walk around town.
And trust me, I get wearing easy clothes all day long. I work from home and I am constantly cleaning the house all day long. Between my dog and kids the tasks seem endless. But I still try to get out of my yoga pants and dressed up on the weekends or whenever I leave the house.
Sometimes my husband and I will do an at home date where we order in take out. We will get dressed up and set the ambiance with candles and flowers. It's hard to go out with kids all of the time. This is just a fun way we like to spend our Fridays and make them a little bit more special.

GETTING DRESSED UP WITH AN INFANT
If you are going out on the town and your baby is tagging along you can definitely still get all dressed up! Just don't forget to pack extra clothes, diapers, wipes and snacks for your little ones.
You might also want to pack an extra top or dress for yourself incase of spit up or a blow out. You just never know when an accident might happen. I always say it's better to be safe than sorry!
And if you have the chance, make some time to enjoy some quality time with your partner. Find a babysitter for the evening, get dressed up and spend a quality evening with your significant other. Hold hands, stop for a treat at an outdoor restaurant, and savor the moments.
HOW DO I GET DRESSED UP WITH A NEW BABY?
Now, if you're wondering how in the world to get dressed up with a new baby in tow, the best thing to do is feed your baby first and while they are sleeping after their meal, take those few moments to get dressed and ready.
I have two kids and my second baby was what we called a "velcro baby". My baby never wanted to be put down, even when sleeping. I just used a baby wrap to carry my baby around in all day long to keep baby oh-so happy and cozy. But when I needed to work, get ready, take a shower or cook dinner, things would get tricky.
I quickly learned that nursing while laying down meant that I could get up once baby has fallen asleep. If you have tried nursing in the rocking chair only to be left with an awake baby after trying to set your baby down in the crib-you are not alone!
The trick is to nurse or feed your baby on a floor bed. This way you can nurse laying down and when they fall asleep, you just slowly and carefully get up. This was the only way I managed to get my baby to sleep alone and be able to get things done.
Of course, every baby is situation is different and you just have to figure out what works best for you.
If you have friends or family near by, you can always give someone you trust a text to ask for help with baby 😉

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GET DRESSED UP?
Dressing up is all about elevating your style game and putting your best foot forward. It's an opportunity to step out of your everyday comfort zone and put on a more refined, dressy outfit that showcases your personal style in a whole new light.
Just to be clear, as a new mom, dressing up doesn't necessarily mean looking like you are ready to attend prom, unless of course you want to dress up like this, then by all means, go for it!
What it does mean, in this case is that you get out of those jammies or sweat pants and put on something nice, fresh and clean on. You can throw on an easy everyday dress, a necklace and cute sandals for a casual day and you'll feel the difference.

It's easy to fall into a routine of wearing the same comfortable clothes day in and day out, especially when you're busy caring for your littles. However, taking a few extra minutes when you can to put together an outfit that makes you feel good and stylish that is also comfortable can make a world of difference. It's a small act of self-care that can help you feel more like yourself.

Another great thing about dressing up from time to time is that it can be a great way to break up the monotony of everyday life.
You can also do this by styling your hair, washing your face and the basic self grooming necessities. Pampering yourself by putting on a face mask or a hair mask is another easy way to practice self care.
When you're feeling like you are stuck in a rut, putting on a favorite outfit or a cute new outfit can boost your mood and give you a fresh perspective.
So, the next time you're tempted to reach for those well-worn sweatpants, consider reaching for an outfit that makes you feel oh-so-lovely instead. Even if it's just a comfy matching loungewear set. And if you don't have something available that is currently making you feel good, then it's time for a shopping spree!

TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF AS A MOM WITH A NEW BABY
After I had my second baby, I wasn't feeling like my old self anymore and to make matters worse, most of my pre-pregnancy clothes still didn't fit me right.
Rather than letting these feelings consume me, I decided to take action and invest in a few new outfits specifically for this post baby transitional period often referred to as the "4th trimester."
The term "4th trimester" basically acknowledges the significant physical and emotional changes that we mamas experience in the months following childbirth. Just as our bodies change and adapt during pregnancy, they also require time to heal and adjust after delivery.
Recognizing this, I knew that it was totally unrealistic to expect my pre-pregnancy clothes to fit me perfectly right away. Rather than fixating on it, I decided to embrace my current body and invest in clothes that made me feel comfortable and confident during this unique stage of life.

By taking this small step towards self-care, I was able to shift my focus from feelings of self-doubt to a more positive outlook.
It was a reminder that my body had accomplished something incredible, and that it deserved love, respect, and patience as it healed and transformed once again.

Wearing clothes that made me feel good about myself gave me a much-needed confidence boost. It was a reminder that I was still the same person, just with a new role as a mother of two. This newfound confidence motivated me to continue making even more positive changes in my life.
I made a commitment to walk every day, not only for the physical benefits but also for the mental clarity and stress relief it provided. The early days of motherhood can feel a bit isolating if we just stay indoors the entire time.
Additionally, I sought out small moments of self-care whenever possible, whether it was applying a face mask, taking a bubble bath or even reading a few pages of a book and enjoying a warm cup of tea with my newborn.

THE 4TH TRIMESTER OUTFITS
Many new moms find themselves in a similar situation, hesitant to invest in clothing because they haven't yet returned to their pre-pregnancy size. However, it's crucial to remember that our bodies deserve love and respect at every stage of life, regardless of their shape or size.
Embracing our bodies throughout our journey is essential for our overall well-being. Setting health goals is admirable and important, but it shouldn't come at the cost of our self-esteem or self-care. Restricting ourselves from feeling good in our clothing until we reach a certain goal can be detrimental to our mental health.

Many new moms find themselves in a unique position when it comes to their wardrobes. They may feel reluctant to go shopping, either due to a lack of time or a hesitation to invest in clothes that may only fit for a short period.
At the same time, they struggle with the fact that their pre-pregnancy clothes don't fit comfortably.
If you're experiencing guilt about purchasing clothes that may only be good for a few months, there are strategic ways to approach your postpartum wardrobe.
HOW TO SHOP FOR CLOTHES GOOD FOR THE 4TH TRIMESTER/NEWBORN STAGE?
Choose pieces that are versatile and can easily transition into your long-term clothing rotation.
Look for items made with stretchy, forgiving fabrics that can accommodate fluctuations in your body shape. These materials will not only provide comfort during the postpartum period but also allow for some flexibility as your body continues to change.
Another option is to choose garments with a loose or relaxed fit. Flowy tops, oversized sweaters, and adjustable waistbands can offer both style and comfort without feeling restrictive. These pieces can be easily dressed up or down, making them suitable for various occasions.
Look for clothing with any amount of spandex in the materials to insure some stretch and comfort.

WHY ITS IMPORTANT TO INVEST IN GOOD CLOTHES FOR NEW MOMS
Squeezing into ill-fitting garments or constantly tugging at restrictive waistbands would have only added unnecessary stress and frustration to an already challenging experience.
The physical changes that come with pregnancy and the postpartum period can be overwhelming, but having a wardrobe that accommodated those changes made a world of difference.
After a few months I was able to get back into my pre-pregnancy wardrobe. It was a milestone hit, and I honestly felt a sense of accomplishment & excitement to be able to get back into some of my favorite outfits.

As I made this transition, I decided to consign all of my pregnancy and 4th trimester clothing that didn't work for me except for the pieces that did work for nursing.
