So you’ve got that baby shower invite and you’re surfing the registry list to find the best gift for the parents of a new baby! How exciting! And you have so many wonderful questions like, when is the baby due?! And how has the pregnancy been? Etc.
But as the shower creeps closer each and everyday you’re suddenly stumped with a big question! What in the world am I going to wear?
A baby shower can be such a wonderful and fun party, but like many parties, these events come in various packages. Since there are so many types of baby showers ranging from small to large parties, I will be covering what to wear to a casual and dressy baby shower party.
Some baby showers are super chill, in a home with a homemade cake and banners, while other baby showers are larger than life in a wedding like venue.
The very first step is to find out where you will be attending the baby shower (venue, indoor home, outdoor garden party)
Since baby showers are usually reserved for a more intimate group of people in our lives, we usually know the host and how to dress around her. However, as with everything in life, there isn’t a one size fits all approach.
If your friend loves to dress up, then you should most definitely put in the effort to dress up for her baby shower and even if she doesn’t, wear something nice to celebrate her baby shower in.
The goal is to dress nicely yet, you also don’t want to out shine the soon to be mama- it is her day after all. So you gotta find that nice balance between dressing lovely without being over the top.
Some baby showers ask you to dress in either pink or blue colors of the soon to be baby. I’ve been asked to wear either pink or blue in honor of the new baby girl or boy in the past.
If your invite doesn’t say this, then you likely won’t need to wear these colors unless you want to of course. However, there may be an unspoken agreement at baby showers where you will find that if the baby invitation says "its a girl” then a lot of the guests will be wearing pink, for example. And vice versa. This might be one of those unspoken rules, but ultimately its just a fun way to celebrate the soon to be baby. All in all, you should wear something that not only looks good, but makes you feel good too.

The best colors to wear to a gender neutral baby shower are shades of purple, green, yellow & basically any other color besides pink, or blue.
Some baby showers are completely neutral while no one actually knows the gender of the baby.
Other baby showers maybe gender neutral because the parents expect to have several more babies and want to purchase only neutral baby items to make them easier to use for several babies and years.
Another reason for this is that some soon to be parents are just into the beige baby aesthetic trends and want to keep everything in a simple color palette.
