29 May Bucket List Ideas
Happy May, Dolls!
This month feels like a little breath of fresh air, doesn’t it? Everything is blooming, the days are getting longer, and there’s just something about May that makes you want to slow down and enjoy it all a little bit more.
For today’s post, I’ve put together 29 sweet and simple ways to celebrate May. I hope this list inspires you to romanticize May in your own way!
29 May Bucket List Ideas

1. Visit a flower farm or garden in full bloom
Visit a flower farm or garden while everything is in full bloom. Check your local area to see which flowers are blooming or if there are any seasonal festivals happening.
Every year, we make it a tradition to visit the flower fields and soak it all in. I absolutely love packing a picnic and spending the day surrounded by flowers. It feels so dreamy and fun.
I’ll usually bring a book or a little activity for the kids, and we just slow down and enjoy being together. We take photos, snack on our favorite treats, and blow bubbles in the sunshine. It’s truly one of my all time favorite ways to spend a day.

2. Fill a vase with beautiful flowers
Pick up a fresh bundle from the farmers market or a local flower field, then style them in your favorite jar or vase for a simple, pretty touch.
If you visit a flower field, many offer U-pick options so you can gather your own blooms to take home, which makes it feel extra special. I also love picking up bulbs or whole plants when I can, so I can replant them and enjoy them again in my own garden.
3. Open your windows and give your home some fresh air
It’s finally the season we’ve been waiting for all winter, and nothing feels better than letting that crisp, clean air flow through your space.
During the colder months, I try to do this too, but I can only handle about ten minutes a day. Now that it’s warmed up, you can keep your windows open all day long, and it makes everything feel lighter, brighter, and completely refreshed. It’s truly the best feeling!

4. Go on a long walk with no destination
Sometimes you just need to step outside, slow down, and enjoy the moment.
Let yourself wander and follow wherever the path leads, without a plan or a timeline. It’s such a simple way to reset and feel inspired again.

5. Plan a simple picnic with pretty snacks
There’s something so dreamy about packing fresh flowers, homemade sourdough, a few fancy cheeses, and all your favorite little treats this time of year.
The more aesthetic, the better. Every now and then, just for fun, I love putting together a themed picnic like a dessert spread or even a color inspired one. I love soft pinks and greens, or warm browns and yellows.
The best part is, you don’t need a fancy destination. Your own backyard might just be the perfect spot.
6. Start your mornings 20 minutes earlier
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not naturally an early riser. I’m usually a 7 a.m. kind of person. But last week, I tried waking up at 6:30 every day, and I noticed something interesting.
Those few extra quiet moments with my coffee, before the day really begins, felt so special. There was a intense calm, peaceful aura that carried with me throughout the entire day. It’s hard to explain, but it made the day feel more at ease.
And naturally, I found myself going to bed a bit earlier too, which made the whole routine feel even better.
7. Bake muffins from scratch
I’ve always had a love for baking!
Watching muffins and sourdough rise, or seeing granola turn perfectly golden and crunchy, brings me so much joy I could burst.
It’s simple, a little cozy, and feels like magic every single time I pull something perfectly baed out of the toasty over.
8. Visit a local farmers market
Our small town farmers market opens each May, so it always earns a spot on my May bucket list. I love supporting our local farmers and filling my basket with fresh fruits and vegetables.
Farmers markets feel a little old fashioned and so simple yet totally fun too.

9. Take yourself on a solo coffee date
You don’t have to wait on anyone else to do something special for you, just in case you needed that reminder.
If you love coffee or tea, take a little time for yourself and head out after the kids are off to school or whenever you have a moment in your day.
Even something small like that can feel like such a treat.

10. Refresh your wardrobe for warmer days
When was the last time you treated yourself to a new dress or a fresh warm weather top? There’s something so fun and rewarding about adding a few new pieces to your wardrobe as the seasons change.
I love bringing in a few dresses, a crisp pair of shoes, a woven sunhat, and a few light, breezy tops to refresh my collection. It keeps everything feeling exciting and new, and it makes getting dressed so much more enjoyable.
There’s just something about having those new pieces waiting for you in your closet that makes you look forward to putting together an outfit again.
11. Rearrange a space in your home
I love going through my cupboards once a year and giving everything a little refresh. It’s the perfect time to clear out chipped dishes and replace anything that’s past its prime.
Even small changes like organizing a drawer or rearranging furniture can make your space feel completely new again. It’s such a simple way to bring a fresh, uplifting aura back into your home.

12. Wear Pastel Colors
Wearing pastel colors in the spring feels so fresh and fun! After a winter full of rich jewel tones, it’s such a nice change to bring in soft, airy shades.
I love reaching for fresh greens, pale pinks, and creamy neutrals this time of year. They instantly brighten up your wardrobe and make everything feel light, pretty, and renewed.
13. Press flowers and save them in a book
I recently got my daughter the sweetest wooden flower press, and she absolutely loves it.
She’s always out in the yard picking little flowers from the grass, and now she gets to save them too.
Since we planted a pollinator garden, we have so many beautiful blooms to choose from right at home. It’s turned into such a fun and simple little activity we can enjoy together.
The pressed flowers are also great for arts and crafts!
14. Host a casual brunch at home
Have some friends over for a casual get together and keep it simple and fun. You could have everyone bring a special dish to share or something new to try.
It takes the pressure off hosting and turns it into a relaxed, cozy gathering filled with good food and even better company.

15. Try a new spring recipe
Try a new spring recipe and welcome the season in a fresh, simple way. Spring is all about renewal, and there’s something so fun about bringing that feeling into your kitchen.
Whether it’s a light salad, a bright baked treat, or something with fresh seasonal ingredients, trying a new dish can make everyday meals feel a little more special and exciting!
16. Create a feel good playlist
I’ve been listening to a cottagecore playlist on my Apple Music lately, and I absolutely love having it playing in the background. It sets the sweetest tone in my home and makes everything feel a little more dreamy and whimsical.
There’s something about soft, gentle music that can completely shift the mood of your day. Try creating a playlist that feels like you. Fill it with songs that make you feel good and enjoy the moment a little more.
17. Visit a plant nursery and pick something out
Visiting a plant nursery is such a lovely way to explore and dream about what you can grow. It’s so fun wandering through and taking in all the different, beautiful plants.
And bringing one home with you almost feels like picking out a little souvenir. It’s a fun way to add something fresh and living to your space.
18. Fly a kite
Fly a kite on a breezy day and enjoy something simple and playful. If you spot a little wind in the forecast, grab a kite and give it a try.
There’s something so fun about spending time in an open park, watching it catch the air and dance across the sky. It’s lighthearted, a little nostalgic, and such a sweet way to enjoy the outdoors.
19. Set a few simple goals for summer
Set a few simple goals for summer and give yourself something to look forward to. Taking a little time to plan ahead can make the season feel more intentional and meaningful.
Think about the things you truly want to experience. Maybe it’s a weekend getaway, more time outside, trying new recipes, or slowing down and enjoying quiet moments at home. Write down a few must-dos and sprinkle them into your calendar.
It doesn’t have to be anything big. Sometimes the smallest plans turn into the most memorable days.

20. Take photos of blooming trees or flowers
Take photos of blooming trees and flowers and capture a little bit of the season. Slow down, soak it all in, and truly stop to smell the roses.
This idea came to me while watching my four year old, who stops to admire every. single. flower we pass!!
It made me realize how often I rush through my days, always feeling like I have somewhere important to be or something I need to do.
Meanwhile, she is fully present, taking in every little detail, and there’s something so pure and joyful about that.
I want to be more like her and notice the beauty all around. Then snap a photo of the blooms.
21. Spend a full day offline
Spend a full day offline and give yourself a little reset. I love these kinds of days, and they aren’t as hard as you might think.
Just turn everything off and be present in your day. Leave your phone in another room can help. Read a book, go for a walk, bake something cozy, or simply enjoy quiet moments at home. It’s such a refreshing way to slow down, clear your mind, and reconnect with what really matters.
22. Deep clean one space in your home
Deep clean one space in your home and give it a true refresh. I recently pulled out all of my appliances and cleaned behind them. We moved the fridge, washer, and dryer, mopped the floors, and wiped everything down.
These spots are so easy to overlook, but they collect dust and little messes over time. Even though you don’t see behind or under them every day, taking the time to clean those hidden areas makes your whole home feel noticeably fresher.

23. Try a new makeup look
Try a new makeup shades to refresh your spring look and have a little fun with it. It’s so easy to fall into the habit of using the same shades every day. That quick 10-minute routine is convenient, but it can start to feel a little repetitive.
The best time to experiment is when you have nowhere to be. Play around with a new eyeshadow, a different blush tone, or a lip color you’ve been unsure about.
Sometimes you’ll be surprised by how much you love it, or you’ll learn what doesn’t quite work, which can be helpful too! Go all out or try a combination you’ve been a little shy to wear.
And be sure to check out my favorite clean makeup brand here
24. Journal about where you are in life right now
Journal about where you are in life right now and take some time to reflect. Writing down your daily routines, thoughts, and little moments can be so meaningful to look back on later.
It’s interesting to see how much life changes over time, even in ways you don’t notice day to day. And beyond that, it’s such a calming, simple way to slow down and unwind.
25. Make a homemade spring dessert
Make a homemade spring dessert and try something a little different. Have you ever baked with rhubarb? If not, this is the perfect time to give it a try and learn a sweet new skill.
There’s something so fun about working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating something from scratch. It makes the whole experience feel a little more special and a lot more memorable.
26. Try something new
Try something new and bring a little spark back into your routine. When was the last time you did something for the very first time?
As we get older, life can start to feel like it moves faster, often because we fall into familiar patterns. Trying something new, even something small, can help create fresh experiences and new memories. It adds a sense of excitement and keeps things feeling a little more alive.
It doesn’t have to be anything big. You could explore a hiking trail you’ve never visited, take a different route home, or try a new coffee spot. Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.
27. Read a book outside
Read a book outside and enjoy the simple pairing of fresh air and a good story. There’s something so calming about stepping outside and letting yourself slow down for a bit.
If you have kids, try reading to them under a tree or in the backyard. It turns an everyday thing into something a little more special and interesting.
My daughter’s preschool actually inspired this idea. They sit outside in a circle under a tree and read stories together, and it’s just the sweetest thing and it makes the whole experience feel magical!

28. Celebrate mothers day
You could go out for a nice dinner, invite family over, host a cozy brunch, or even spend the day flower picking together.
Sometimes the simplest things, shared with the people you love most, are the ones that feel the most memorable.
For many years, our Mother’s Day tradition has been to pack a picnic and spend the day at Chateau St. Jean in Sonoma, CA. We soak up the sunshine, sip sparkling water and a little Gewürztraminer, and snack on fresh farmers market strawberries and local cheeses from Bodega Bay.
It’s truly the sweetest way to romanticize the day. My little one would play with a ball and color in the sunshine while we relaxed and enjoyed each others company. It’s simple, peaceful, and special too.
29. End the month with a bubble bath
End the month with a cozy bubble bath and give yourself a moment to truly unwind. Fill the tub with big fluffy bubbles, add a few drops of your favorite essential oils, and sprinkle in some magnesium salts for an extra calming touch.
Turn on your diffuser, play a tranquil playlist or podcast, and let yourself sink into relaxation. It’s such a peaceful way to end the evening and close out the month of May feeling relaxed and refreshed.
