13 Mermaid Birthday Party Favor Ideas

Planning a mermaid birthday party is already magical on its own, but sending guests home with thoughtful and exciting party favors makes the celebration even more memorable.

For our party, I wanted every child to feel like they were leaving with their own little treasure chest of under the sea goodies.

I spent a couple of months on high alert searching out the best and cutest mermaid themed keepsakes, so you don't have to. 

Everything from sparkly, vintage inspired to hands on crafts, these mermaid birthday party favors were a hit.

All of the kids were raving about how exciting their goodie bags were! 

Several of these items went into a pink gift bag, with even more fun favors waiting at a make and take mermaid craft station. 

The kids had so much fun and I loved seeing their eyes light up as they explored all the little surprises.

1. Pink Mermaid Gift Bags

Shop: Junior Tote Bags

The first thing the kids saw was their adorable pink mermaid gift bag waiting for them.

I actually chose these cute craft bags instead of themed mermaid bags (which would have been super cute too) because I knew they would work for more than just one party theme. I always end up with extra favor bags

I also like to have extra favor bags on hand in case siblings show up or we have last minute guests or even if a child wants to take an extra bag home.

It keeps things stress free and ensures no one is left out.

These bags were just the right size to hold all the treasures tucked inside.

2. Mermaid Sparkle Keychain

Attached to each bag was a sparkly squishy mermaid keychain. 

The shimmer was irresistible and this is what gave the bags that mermaid theme feel.  

I loved how these sparkly and fun mermaid keychains made each favor bag feel extra special!! It was a no brainer!

3. Wooden Mini Windmills

We added wooden mini windmills for a playful touch and they were such a sweet surprise in the favor bags.

Even though they weren’t technically mermaid themed, the soft iridescent shine gave them a whimsical feel that blended beautifully with the under the sea magic vibe. 

They added just the right amount of sparkle and made the gift bags look even more exciting and enticing.

4. Treasure box with a surprise wood bracelet and ring pop inside

Every child received a little treasure box filled with a cute candy ring pop and a keepsake wooden mermaid bracelet. 

It was like their own mini treasure chest.

My daughter decorated the treasure chest boxes with mermaid stickers to make them even more festive. 

The wooden bracelets were a sweet keepsake that even crunchy/scrunchie moms totally approved. 

I love candy rings because of their nostalgia, so when I saw them I knew I had to add them into the goodie bags for fun. 

5. Mermaid Candy Bracelet

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these adorable mermaid themed candy bracelets! 

Of course, we had to add the mermaid candy bracelets in our goodie bags.

I ended up going back for a few more packs so I could display some of these candy bracelets on the dessert table at the party.

This way the adults along with the kids could also wear a mermaid themed candy bracelet. 

I'll be honest though, these were so hard to get my hands on. They were sold out at all of the Targets near my city. So crazy enough, I ended up driving all over the state to find a bag here and a bag there.

These candy bracelets were so colorful, fun, and a very 90's Y2K nostalgic classic party treat that tied in perfectly with the theme. 

These treats were sure to make the kids feel like real mermaids finding jewels under the sea.

6. Mermaid Kinetic Sand and Toy

The mermaid kinetic sand was such a hit!

Each little container came with a mermaid themed toy tucked inside, so the kids had something they could play with long after the party.

It's great for hands on and sensory fun play that fit the underwater theme perfectly.

We couldn't pass these up. I ended up letting my daughter play with a few that she wanted to keep before the party. She spent hours engaged with this toy.

7. Mermaid Sticker Sheets

No party favor bag is complete without stickers! 

We tucked in mermaid sticker sheets that gave the kids something fun to decorate with once they got home.

8. Crayon Stackers

To balance out the candy and toys, I included crayon stackers.

These are wonderfully colorful, practical, and fun to use, plus they added a creative element to the favor bags.

I personally just love crayon stackers for on the go. I keep one in my purse with a tiny notepad for my little one to color with.

I tend to pull this crayon out when the line is taking a long time at the checkout, or even at a restaurant to keep my little one busy for the time being. 

It's also great for a car activity, since you have multiple colors in essentially one crayon. No mess, no fuss! When I saw these I knew I had to include them into the goodie bags!

9. Full Size Bubbles or bubble wands

Bubbles are always a crowd pleaser! 

Instead of the mini versions, we went with full size bottles so the kids could enjoy them longer.

I also tend to end up with a bunch of bubbles after each party and yet these bubbles seem to work and be a hit year over year. 

This was one of those simple but magical favors that never fails.

10. Mermaid Tail Sequin Hair Clips

Every kid who attended the party got to dress up their hairdo with a shiny mermaid tail sequin hair clip!

These were favors that the kids could wear and enjoy right away! 

It added that little extra sparkle and tied back to the magical mermaid theme.

Mermaid Make and Take Craft Station

Along with the take home favor bags, we also set up a mermaid make and take craft table. Everything we set on this table could be crafted in some way or another! 

This was one of the highlights of the party and the kids spent so much time here decorating their creations!

On the craft table we had:

We supplied acrylic paint pens and what felt like thousands of jewel stickers so the kids could bedazzle to their heart’s content.

Each child walked away with unique handmade treasures that they were so proud of.

11. Iridescent Mermaid Wands

The wands were absolutely enchanting once the kids finished decorating them.

Each one was covered in colorful jewels, shimmering stickers, and creative little details that made them all unique.

The children loved waving them around and playing pretend with them.

12. Iridescent Mermaid Vintage Paddle Ball Toy

Vintage toy + mermaid theme + wood? I simply couldn't pass this one up!

The kids also had fun bejeweling the paddle ball toys and decorating the back.

Watching the kids show off their decorated paddles while playing was such a sweet moment.

13. Mermaid Keychains

The wooden mermaid keychains were simple to start, but once the kids added their own decorations, they transformed into colorful, sparkling treasures.

From rainbow designs to jewel covered masterpieces, each keychain turned into a one of a kind keepsake that could be clipped onto backpacks or lunch bags as a reminder of the fun day.
